Training for Care & Support Workers, Managers & for people who access Support Services
Along with the training listed below, we offer bespoke training to suit the needs of an individual and training in specific areas that are required for care and support teams and/or team managers.
Please feel free to contact us to discuss these.
Inclusive Practice for care workers, support workers and care managers.
This course is mainly scenario-based training that provides a reflective and supportive space for all who are in a support-based role. These are often scenarios that a care or support worker experiences on a daily basis, and the aim is to enhance your working practices.
We also encourage people to focus on unconscious stereotypes, language and approaches used when supporting someone.
Human Rights legislation is used as an educational framework in this training to update the current knowledge of care and support workers.
Training in: 'A Service-Users' View
Led by ThinkAbility Director Nathan Popple, this course gives insight and practical advice from someone who has support workers to support workers. Nathan gives his own perspective of living alongside people who are there to support him and gives a personal account of what makes an exceptional support worker along with what does not. This thought-provoking session is suitable for all care & support workers, managers and for people who access support.
Person-Centred Planning
This interactive session is for a person currently supported in a care or residential home or living alone or with family.
We work with young people leaving care, adults with physical disabilities, adults with additional learning needs, and people with autism.
The person being supported is encouraged to invite anyone whom they wish to be involved to this meeting, and the aim is for that person to evaluate their current support needs, identify what they wish to do going forward in terms of accommodation, employment, studying etc. and to think about what they need to put in place in order to achieve their goals.
The length of the session is varied to accommodate the needs of the person who is at the centre of it, and we come to their home or a place that is agreed upon.
